Working with Local Authorities
More local authorities took part in Anti-Slavery Day 2012 – namely, the London Boroughs of Croydon, Hillingdon and Camden. Working with local authorities – both inside and outside London - to educate and raise awareness amongst staff is one of key strands of the Foundation's work, which we are planning to continue and further develop in the future.
- In 2012, the Foundation sponsored a church play entitled 'House on the Rock', and nominated the Nightingales Children's Project, which works with victims and potential victims in Cernavoda (Romania), as the beneficiary of any funds raised.
- In 2011, the Foundation advised on the content of ‘Anya17’, an opera on human trafficking which was performed in 2012 and was widely acclaimed in reviews by the national media. The Foundation gave Anya17 a media award in 2012 and the team reports that the show has since then been enjoying a great success in Europe with numerous enquiries from people wanting to find out more about human trafficking.
